Early each morning, before the sun is even up, the truck stop opens for breakfast, and the trucks start pulling in. Eighteen wheeler, milk tank, moving van, and flatbed! Their drivers order eggs and bacon, pancakes with syrup, and a blueberry muffin. For the boy who helps his parents at the counter, there is nothing better than seeing all the trucks roll in.
Anne Rockwell, author of Truck Stop, began writing and illustrating children’s books in the 1950s and is well known and loved by generations of children. Her work has won many awards and accolades. Melissa Iwai (illustrator) has illustrated over twenty picture books, and has recently written her first book. Truck Stop, published by Viking Children’s Books, is the perfect book for truck lovers ages 3-5!
My son is obsessed with all things that “go” – trains, airplanes, helicopters, tractors, and, of course, trucks! We have read Truck Stop every night before bed since we received it! We sit down to read before bedtime and he immediately says “trucks!” We spend time looking at all the different trucks on the inside of the cover. And he has to point out the colors of each truck we see throughout the book. The illustrations are fun and colorful, and the storyline is so cute. I love that the little boy who works at the truck stop with his parents identifies the owners by which type of truck they drive. My son loves this adorable book!
