Cheer is… a Decorated Home!
Nothing says the holidays are here to me more than a decorated home! It’s always so much fun to pull out the Christmas tree and all the decorations and watch as the kids excitedly help get the home beautiful for Christmas. This year, I was able to add some fun new decorations from Sam’s Club to create some fun DIY decorations inspired by Brooke Peterson’s blog! I picked up a set of 100 shatterproof ornaments, decorative mesh ribbon, two spools of ribbon, and a roll of double sided wrapping paper. With just these simple items, I was able to decorate our entire home!
I started by making a centerpiece for our dining table. I took a length of the decorative mesh ribbon to create a table runner to add a splash of color to the table. Then, I re-purposed a clear serving tray we have to create the centerpiece. I added a variety of ornaments from the set of ornaments so they all look great together and coordinate perfectly. Then, I added a twist of ribbon to add a bit of fun and pull the whole centerpiece together. It looks great and really adds so much fun to our table. My little boys love looking at the ornaments and since they are shatterproof, I don’t worry about them breaking!
Next, I wanted to add some of the fun to our home’s main focus point, our family photo wall. I used the roll of double sided wrapping paper to do just that! I wrapped up three of our prominent frames from our wall – ones that hadn’t been updated with our most recent family pictures, and wrapped them to create what looked like presents on the wall. I used one side of the wrapping paper for the center frame and the back coordinating side for the two side frames. Then, I added beautiful big bows with the ribbon that really gives them a 3D element and makes the frames stand out. My boys absolutely love the wrapped pictures and keep asking me what’s inside the boxes! It really adds in so much fun to our home and brings in the feelings of the holiday.
Finally, I used up the remainder of the decorative mesh ribbon to add a splash of color above my cabinets. We also added a string of lights that we plug in in the evening which gives off fun mood lighting. All of these projects were very simple and something anyone can easily do themselves with just a few basic supplies. You can pick up the decorations I used, and other fun decorations and supplies, at your local Sam’s Club or at SamsClub.com. We are working on decorating our Christmas tree this weekend and will use up the rest of the ornaments and spools of ribbon to carry over our colors and theme throughout our home. Since our kitchen, dining, and living room are all one large open room, I really love that the colors carry throughout the space! Then, the rest of the wrapping paper will go to good use wrapping up the presents! You can get all the supplies I used for about $55!
