DIY Rag Quilt Strips Pattern and Tutorial

Michael Miller Fabric Project

I was able to review Michael Miller Fabric from their It’s a Boy Thing line of fabrics! I was dreaming up a plan for a really cute diy rag quilt strips pattern for my youngest in anticipation for his toddler bed he will be moving to before I know it!

I lined up the fabrics and dreamed up my pattern! My idea was to do long strips the width of the blanket rather than squares. I stuck with just one fabric pattern for the centers and another one for the back for a solid back more like a traditional quilt.

I selected Michael Miller Fabrics Sea Play Stripe fabric for the back and love how it looks with the lines all lined up across the back, though slightly imperfect which like! I got all the strips cut pretty quickly and then got to work sewing!

Rag Quilt Blanket

This blanket went together so quickly as it’s not a huge blanket and the diy rag quilt strips design made the pattern really fast and simple! After cutting all the strips you line them up and then sew the strips together with the seams being exposed towards the front side of the blanket.

Then, after the sewing is complete you cut the seams ever 1/2″ or so and then the blanket will mat down from washing. I absolutely LOVE the outcome!!! It is so adorable and really soft and cozy with the flannel!

It washed up so well and matted down great leaving distinct lines and transition between the patterns and colors. The Michael Miller Fabrics are really gorgeous patterns and high quality as well!

Michael Miller Fabrics are available through your favorite fabric retailers and through Trade Shows as well. They offer free quilt patterns as well!

Disclosure: I received Michael Miller Fabrics for free in order to try the product and form an opinion for this review. I was not compensated in any other manner. The opinions expressed above are my own and any claims should be verified on the sponsor’s site.

I would defineately get a yard or two from the It's a Girl Thing color stories collection, then I would have to get a yard of one of the Fairy prints, and then I would get a yard of one of the cute Owl prints….I could make soooo many cute little dresses for my Maybelle (11 months)!
