I love to find toys that can be used as a learning tool. Any toy that stretches a child’s imagination meets this criteria.
These Ed Smart Blocks meet this criteria for sure. I have been working in the preschool setting for over 25 years. I have worked with many different types of magnetic balls, rods, and tiles. I have never even heard of magnetic blocks like these before.
These two sets, are fantastic. They kept my 8 year olds busy for over 1 1/2 hours recreating the models shown in the pictures.
Each kit comes with several demonstrations of what can be made with each set. After they exhausted themselves with the first kit they were working on, they traded and went after it again.
Then I introduced these blocks to my 3 and 4 year olds. They did not look at the pictures for examples, they just started creating from their imaginations.
You will notice the little one in the top right hand corner building a tower. He is just 2 years old. He feels so accomplished when he can get his tower 4,5, and even 6 blocks high and they stay standing. He starts clapping his hands and shouting I DID IT! I DID IT! When I see this happening, I know that the cost is well spent, because your child will be using this toy for many years to come. As they mature and are better able to recreate from looking at pictures, they will be able to continue to learn with these as they play. THAT IS THE BEST KIND OF LEARNING.
This was her favorite building construction. She was so proud to be able to look and reconstruct what she saw. From a Teachers/Granny’s perspective, this is money well spent when it comes to buying toys. I highly recommend them.
Manhattan Toy not only carries EDTOY products, But many others also. Their motto is
