Looney Labs Games! Ice Dice & Star Fluxx Review

Looney Labs is an awesome game company started by three “modern day hippies”.  It takes a team of employees, exponentially growing retailers, and fans to produce, sell and promote tons of award-winning games.  Some of those games include: Fluxx, Aquarius, Treehouse, Pyramid, and Seven Dragons.  Looney Labs continues to create amazing games that are portable, can be played by children and adults of all ages, don’t take long to play (5-45 mins), and are extremely unique!  My son is a huge Fluxx fan and was introduced to it by his gifted teacher so he was thrilled to get the newest version, Star Fluxx.  We also were able to try out Ice Dice (a Looney Pyramids game).

I really enjoy playing Looney Labs games with my 13-year-old.  He is extremely smart and keeps me on my toes!  This variation of Fluxx was really fun.  I always look forward to reading the cards because none of them are the same.  Ice Dice was my favorite of the two, only because it involved taking risks.  Any game that I am able to push the envelope to win big, (or occasionally lose big) is my kind of game!  My son is the exact opposite, always playing it safe.  We had a blast with both games and my son is now getting a little obsessed with these Looney Labs games! Here are his thoughts on Star Fluxx and Ice Dice…

I knew that Fluxx was an amazing, fun and clever game, so when I got Star Fluxx, I hoped that it would be outstanding, and it certainly lived up to my expectations! Star Fluxx has some new cards added into it (creepers and surprises) which make it more exciting and a lot more fun! And to top it off, some of the goals have a little bit of humor in them too. I play this game as often as I can, (at school or at home) and I can’t wait to find out what the next Fluxx game will be!

The Looney Pyramids game, “Ice Dice” is a very interesting and fun game. These pyramids are a very creative design from Looney Labs that can be used for many different games, such as Ice Dice and Launchpad 23. Looney Labs has created a long list of pyramid games that, if you have the required amount of pyramids, are extremely fun and you can play over and over again. I taught my little brother to play, and he loved it too.  One of the neat features about these pyramids is that you can stack them to look like a tree or “nest” them so they hide in one another.  I really like that the possibilities are endless with the pyramids.  I have already thought of a few new games to play with them!

Ice Dice and Star Fluxx can be found on the Looney Labs Website or on Amazon.  Ice Dice retails for $19.99 and Star Fluxx retails for $14.99.

Disclosure: I received Ice Dice and Star Fluxx for free in order to try the product and form an opinion for this review. I was not compensated in any other manner. The opinions expressed above are my own.
