I love fashion. However, being a mom on a budget, I don’t have a large clothing budget. Despite my small budget, I’ve found that looking fashionable doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. To be honest, I do most of my shopping at second hand and discount stores. When I do go to more expensive stores, I go straight to the back of the store (where the clearance items are) and typically don’t spend more than $10 per clothing item. If I find an article of clothing costing more than $10 that I really want, I give it some time; I go home and if I’m still thinking about this clothing item a few days later, it’s typically worth the money.
I’m a mom on a budget and this is my style:
This is one of my favorite winter ensembles. Pairing a floral printed jean shirt with a brown and black polka dot cardigan I’m ready to hit the town. Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Floral print and polka dots?” Don’t be afraid if your outfit doesn’t match perfectly – mixing prints is very trendy. For the bottom half of the outfit, I like wearing charcoal skinny jeans and caramel flats. For accessories, I wear this outfit with various bangle bracelets and a statement piece necklace.
A few weeks ago I wore one of my favorite bright winter outfits while taking family pictures. Most people would be surprised to find out that I found this entire outfit (minus the boots) at various second hand stores. Pictured is a blue and white polka dot blouse, pink cardigan, blue statement piece necklace, and yellow skinnies. I love wearing this cheerful winter outfit.
This would be a great example of a “date night” outfit. Walking in my animal printed heals (another thrift store gem), I feel like a sexy momma. Wearing a pair of heals with any outfit helps dress things up. This white studded blouse is paired with black skinnies and A Painted Nest’s statement piece necklace. I love wearing this outfit with my leather infinity bangle bracelet and Aztec wallet.
