Bowflex Boost Review

I received Bowflex Boost in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

I am a fairly active person. I try to hit the gym a few times a week, I am active with my kids, I don’t have a ton of downtime. I have been looking for different options for tracking my fitness goals. It was fun to try out the Bowflex Boost.

The Bowflex boost is a small 24-hour monitoring bracelet tracks steps taken, distance walked, calories burned and sleep quality – all while letting you view your fitness progress over time. It is a great way to keep you motivated and moving. It sinks to your iOS device and tracks your activity in easily monitored charts and graphs.

When you first receive your Bowflex Boost you charge it by connecting it to a USB drive with a provided cable. Once it is charged you can turn it on and sync it to your iOS device using Bluetooth Smart Technology and the free app available from the Apple App Store . Next you enter in some personal information like your weight and height and you can set your fitness goals. Your Boost is ready to wear! Strap it to your wrist and go about your day.

With the press of a button you can see your progress for the day so far. A light will glow on the device Red- 0-50% Yellow- 51-99% Green 100+%. You use the same button to easily sync new information to your iOS device or set it to sleep mode.

Overall I enjoyed using the boost, it has a low price point for devices of its kind at $49.99, it is very affordable. I think it is a great option for normal everyday use, not if you are looking for a heart rate monitor or accurate calorie tracker. While the Boost counts your steps it can not tell what kind of stepping you are doing, I don’t think it was very accurate in counting my movements while running on the treadmill, and didn’t count my 20 minutes of high calorie burning time on the stair stepper at all as my arm was stationary. Sometimes I have a hard time pressing the button in all that way to get it to sync or set to sleep mode but have not had any major problems with it.

Bottom line, the Bowflex Boost is a great way to track your light fitness and everyday movement. The price reflects its abilities and if you are looking for something with all the bells and whistles, you will have to pay for them. It is simple and easy to use, and a great deal.
