Saturday was the day we ran the Dirty Girl Mud Run! I was really looking forward to running (and getting dirty) with our A Mom’s Take Giveaway winner, Alisha Barton. Although I woke up with a cold, I knew that nothing was going to stop me from having fun and getting crazy muddy.
When we arrived at the event, it was amazing to see all the different teams gathered together. So many teams had great outfits and t-shirts decked out in names that showed off their support for survivors and those fighting Breast Cancer. Our team, Team Blogging Dirty, decided to wear teal in support of Ovarian Cancer survivors and research. In my previous blog post, I talked about my friend Cheryl’s fight and victory over Ovarian Cancer. I was also touched to hear that Alisha’s mother was a survivor of ovarian cancer, having been diagnosed when she was carrying Alisha.
After checking in and stashing our gear, it was time to hit the starting line. Everyone was excited as the MC explained what to do if we had an accident, and mostly telling us to just have fun. Finally it was time to go! We had so much fun running to the various obstacles. Although the mud was cold, it was so much fun to hear everyone laughing as they were splattered by mud. Our favorite was the big “Dirty Dancing” Slide into the mud pit. We were all laughing and screaming so we got mud in our mouths.
We had an amazing time. It was so much fun to do an event that was just for us girls! I definitely want to do it again, next time with my friend Cheryl!
The Dirty Girl Mud Run is coming to a city near you! Dates for 2014 are already being posted. Have fun and get dirty!
