The Best Ways to Curb Your Appetite

Sometimes I feel like a bottomless pit…as in I can eat A LOT! During high school and college, I didn’t really have to worry about having such a large appetite because my metabolism could keep up with my food intake. However, after having kids, my metabolism slowed waaaay down and I realized that if I wanted to lose any baby weight, I was going to have to learn how to control my appetite. Although it’s important to make sure our bodies receive an adequate amount of calories to maintain a healthy lifestyle, today I’m sharing 5 easy ways I’ve learned to curb those “munching” cravings.

I received samples and compensation in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

First, let’s talk about those cravings…you know, those kind of cravings that come at 4 pm when the kids are going crazy, dad isn’t home from work yet, and you just want to eat away your daily stresses? Well let me start by introducing my new bff, Skinny Greens.

Skinny Greens:  Before I tell you the great appetite-controlling benefits I’ve experienced from using Skinny Greens, let me give you a little bit of background about the product. Skinny Greens by Brilliant Ways, is the perfect natural way to help control your appetite. That’s right, this delicious superfood drink is made with all natural ingredients such as antioxidants, vegetables, fruits, 26 superfoods, 6 digestive enzymes, and only sweetened with stevia. Something also super cool about Skinny Greens is that it’s made with a patented ingredient called Appethyl – which helps curve your appetite for hours and stops your sweet tooth cravings up to 95%.

Talk about so many amazing benefits from one drink! Just yesterday, both of my kids were fighting, I had a million things to accomplish, and all I wanted to do was stress eat. However, instead of turning to food, I poured myself a glass of Skinny Greens. Not only did my body feel more energized from all the nutrients (and 5 servings of vegetables per serving), but I found that I had more control over what I ate throughout the remainder of my day. And coming from someone who munches ALL DAY LONG, this is huge! I didn’t feel the need to snack before dinner, and I didn’t overeat during dinnertime. I also noticed my stomach not being as bloated as it usually is after I eat large meals.

Now I know what you’re thinking…it’s green, so it can’t possibly taste good. Well guess what? I think you’ll be surprised how much you actually enjoy the flavor. Skinny Greens’ flavor reminds me of sweet spearmint. Very light, refreshing, and delightful. All you have to do is add one scoop of Skinny Greens to 8-10 oz of water, and your appetite will be curbed for hours. It is important to note that you’ll experience the best results drinking Skinny Greens with a small amount of fat (a spoonful of peanut butter, handful of nuts, avocado, etc.). Best of all, when I drink it between my meals (late morning, early afternoon), I find that I don’t feel like I need to eat as much during my meals. Plus, I don’t find myself having to snack as often.  Talk about a win-win!

Here are a few other effective ways that have helped me learn to control my appetite.

Stay busy: If you pay attention to the times during the day when you seem to crave junk food the most, it’s usually when you’re bored. I often notice these cravings start to sneak up when it’s 10 pm, I’m sitting on the couch, and watching tv. You want to know my trick? Stay busy! Choose daily activities that keep your body and mind active.

Drink lots of water: Did you know that it’s recommended that we drink a half gallon of water a day. That’s a lot!!! Try tracking your water intake to see if you’re getting an appropriate amount of water. When I’m trying to curb my appetite, one of the first things I do when I feel hungry is drink a glass of water!

Exercise:  A lot of people think that if they exercise, their bodies will burn more calories thus making them more hungry. Guess what, those people are wrong! Exercise has SO many incredible benefits on our bodies including better appetite control. Not only that, but when I’m exercising, because of my hard work, I’m more conscious about the amount of calories I’m putting in my body. I often think of food in terms of “is this package of fruit snacks really worth the ten minutes I just spent on the treadmill?”

Don’t go hungry: Whether you choose to eat 5 small meals a day, or snack with fruits and veggies between meals, don’t allow your body to go hungry. The more hungry you are, the more likely you are to binge! On a side-note, you want to know my absolute favorite snack? Apple slices lightly coated in ground cinnamon. Not only does the cinnamon give the apple slices a fantastic flavor, but it also keeps the apple crisp and free from browning. Give it a try!
