Making Changes with Fitbit

After I had my 4th baby, I was the heaviest I had ever been.  Looking in the mirror made me cry. I felt terrible, in fact, I had more problems during that pregnancy than any of the others. I had kidney issues, carpal tunnel and my morning sickness lasted the entire pregnancy.  I had knee issues.  I felt like I was falling apart. I knew it was my weight. I knew I needed to start making changes in my life.

Making changes with FitbitAt that time I started being more active.  I started to take a hard look at what I was eating.  I was able to, in the course of 1 year, lose over 115 pounds.  During my weight loss journey, I knew one of the reasons I was working so hard was so that I could have another baby.  The last pregnancy so was terrible, but I just knew that losing weight would help me have a better pregnancy.  I got pregnant with my 5th baby, and although I wasn’t able to keep off all the weight I loss, I didn’t gain it all back and I continued to remain active.

Today I have about 60 pounds to lose to get to my goal weight, and I’ve found I’ve hit a bit of a plateau in both my weight loss and my motivation.  I needed a bit of a kick in the pants, and something to help me and keep me accountable.  I needed a Fitbit Flex.

FLEX™ WIRELESS ACTIVITY AND SLEEP WRISTBAND

This slim, stylish device is with you all the time. During the day, it tracks steps, distance, and calories burned. At night, it tracks your sleep quality and wakes you silently in the morning. Just check out the lights to see how you stack up against your personal goal. It’s the motivation you need to get out and be more active.

The Fitbit Flex is super easy to set up.  I opened it and within minutes had it tracking my steps. I have an android phone, and the Fitbit app was easy to install and a breeze to work with.  I was able to add in all my specifications including the amount of weight I wanted to lose per week, total weight loss desired and meal plan.  I am so impressed.

Making Changes with FitbitNow, I’ve been using the Fitbit Flex for several weeks, and let me tell you, it motivates you! First, it’s a visual reminder that you need to get up and move.  Like having a string around your finger to remind you of something, except this one communicates with you.  Nothing feels better than your Flex hitting your goal!  Seeing those lights flash all full is victory. It’s so crazy that I can go into Zumba and have only around 2500 steps, and in 50 minutes hit 10,000 steps plus! My kids ask me all the time to see how many lights I have.  They get excited when I make my goals as well, and if I’m short will have dance parties with me so I hit my goal. Even my 18 month old loves to make my Flex light up (she giggles every time)!

Fitbit Flex is available in 10 different colors, including red which Fitbit premiered last month in American Heart Association’s (AHA) Go Red For Women movement. Fitbit Flex would make a great Father’s Day present, or a great any day present for yourself.  See yourself making changes, and make them with a bit of help from Fitbit!  Fitbit Flex can be purchased from retail stores like Radio Shack and online at Amazon.

How would you use a Fitbit to make changes in your life?
