Healthy Eating For The Whole Family

I received a Flower Child meal in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

Last month my husband and I did a whole 30 challenge. I won’t go into all the details, but for 30 days we drastically changed our diets to reset our systems and make some serious changes to the way we thought about and approached eating. We had several opportunities to eat out during those 30 days and reality struck me pretty hard. When we dine out, most of the time I am pretty oblivious to what actually goes into the food I am eating. I don’t know where it comes from or how it is prepared! Kind of scary when you really think about it, right!?

I am trying really hard to make better choices for my family, sometimes it is hard and other times it is a no brainer. Flower Child is a no brainer. The newest of the Fox family of restaurants, Flower Child embraces natural eating. They work with ranchers who respect, protect and love their animals – and our food supply. Their proteins are all raised naturally, without additives. And their organic produce is guided by the wisdom of the Environmental Working Group. Plus, they source locally!

At first glance I was completely taken with the ambiance, fresh was the first thing that came to mind and we hadn’t even looked at the menu yet! Filled with natural light from the beautiful windows, the whole dining room was bright and inviting. I wish I could pin the whole thing directly to my Pinterest board because it is the exact feeling I want in my own kitchen! After taking it all in we decided to order.

Flower Child’s menu is full of amazing items that are made from real, whole ingredients. A mash up of proteins and fresh vegetables the flavor combinations all looked amazing. I ended up choosing an Asian Avocado Salad with salmon. My husband chose a Madras Chicken Curry Dish. Both were really yummy. You can really taste the difference the organic ingredients that compliment each other, the natural flavors of the foods shine through.

Healthy choices don’t stop with us though. I was SO impressed with the kids menu at Flower Child. No nuggets here. Kids can start by choosing a protein: Steak, Chicken, or Tofu. Then they get to choose two sides to go with it. The options are pretty amazing. My son chose steak with gluten-free mac & cheese and sweet corn quinoa. My daughter chose chicken, the fresh fruit, and the mac & cheese as well. They both loved their choices, and I loved watching them eat such a healthy meal. Next time I go I am ordering a side of mac & cheese for myself, it was so yummy!

I haven’t mentioned drinks yet, but they are worth mentioning. If you are looking for your  traditional soda wall you won’t find it here. Instead you will find a wall of all natural juices and teas. We tried the Lemonade and Fresh Lime Jasmine Lemonade, but the family favorite was the Traditional Watermelon Lemonade. It was so refreshing and delicious on a hot Arizona afternoon!

I found quite a few items on the menu that both my husband and I would love . . . and it is one of the Fox restaurants. I have been to a few of the other Fox restaurants and their food is wonderful. Thanks.
