6 Ways to Fake Being a Morning Person

Mornings can be such a struggle, if you fight them. I used to be one of those that set my alarm extra early and then hit snooze about a dozen times before finally, groggily, rolling out of bed to face the day. That tactic always left me feeling grouchy through to about lunchtime wishing I was still cuddled up in bed. I’m still not much of a morning person – I’d much rather stay up to all hours of the night. But as a mom with lots of responsibilities in the morning, I’ve found some things that help me feel more like a morning person even if I’m nowhere close.

This post is sponsored by Pilot Flying J, but all opinions are my own.

6 Ways to Fake Being a Morning Person

Getting up in the morning, and being happy about it, if you're NOT a morning person is tough. We can help make your mornings go better with these tricks to help you fake being a morning person (aka happy in the morning) even if you're a night owl!

Go to Bed by 10 pm – Set a goal to go to bed no later than 10 pm each evening. That will ensure you get enough sleep that you’ll feel rested in the morning, which will do wonders for the start of the day. You’ll also be more productive if you aren’t tired all morning long.

Don’t Hit “Snooze” – Break the bad habit of the awful snooze button. Instead, set your alarm for as late as possible. This way, you’ll get to actually enjoy those last 15-20 minutes of sleep, rather than ending your morning in abrupt bursts of half-sleep.

Wake up to Natural Light – Crack your curtains just a little bit to allow some natural light to come into the room with the sunrise. It doesn’t need to be much, just a little bit will help you to wake up ready for the day ahead. Just make sure to crack the curtains in a direction that the morning rays won’t land in your eyes.

Take a Shower to Wake-up – A hot shower can gently wake you up from groggy to ready to take on the world in as little as 5 minutes! Take in a radio and turn the music up, too!

Take a morning shower

Start With a Big Cup of Water – A tall glass of water will help your digestive system, weight loss, and do wonders for waking you up, as well. I always fill up a tall glass right after the shower, it’s really refreshing!

A Good Breakfast Matters – Don’t skip out on breakfast. It’s easy and tempting to do, but you’ll actually end up more distracted during the morning hours and will have a harder time focusing and being productive.

The hardest part for me is waking up every morning. Even just today I was up much later than I should have been. I'll try these tactics, thank you!
