This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scott Tube-Free. All opinions are 100% mine.

Have you ever stopped to think about how much waste happens in our bathrooms? We toss out our old toothpaste tubes and toothbrushes every few months and cycle through gallons of water a day. You can make just a few very easy changes that will make all of the difference in reducing your carbon footprint. These swaps are so easy to change, you’ll wonder why you ever hesitated! This upcoming week is National Simplify Your Life Week, so it’s time to take action, make some changes to your routine, and move forward with less waste!

1. Turn off the Sink – When washing your hands, get your hands wet, then turn off the water while you scrub, scrub, scrub. This will actually help you spend the time you really should be in sudsing up the soap and killing off any germs. Then, turn the water back on to rinse and wash away the soap. It really can save you tons of water each day with this simple switch. Do the same with brushing your teeth, too, for even more savings.

2. Use a Timer – Setting a timer can help you be more efficient in the shower, which is an area most homes easily run through a lot of water. Try different times, to find what time will work for you. I started with a 5 minute timer, and it just wasn’t long enough for me, so I was miserable and gave up a timer initially. With a 6 minute timer, though, I can get through shampoo, body wash, and shaving without feeling rushed! Having a timer makes me accountable for how long I’ve been in the shower, and is not only a water saver, but a time saver too!

Seal up the bottle and place it into your toilet tank, careful not to block any of the mechanics. Now, every flush will save you exactly that much water, no more thought required!

bathroom hack 4. Tube Free Toilet Paper – A swap you’ve probably never thought of before is ditching the cardboard roll at the center of your toilet paper roll. If you consider how many rolls of toilet paper your household uses is a week, you can start to imagine how quickly the waste adds up.

Scott 03852 In the US alone over 17 billion toilet paper tubes are tossed! Scott is helping to revolutionize the toilet paper industry with their new Scott Tube-Free Bath Tissue. It delivers their same soft toilet paper that can be used on your normal toilet paper holder, without the extra cardboard tube that goes to waste. Every part of the roll is now usable and serves a purpose!
