Can you believe that Halloween is just 8 days away? As a family, we started getting ready for Halloween on October 1st by pulling out our Halloween tote of decorations and costumes and had a great time setting up some decor together. One of my boys favorite Halloween decorations we set up is our countdown blocks that let us easily remember and have fun counting down to the special date! This year, the countdown blocks have been even more exciting as not only is my family counting down to Halloween but we are counting down to a new arrival, as well! I am due on Halloween with our 4th child, though I very likely will go past my due date as I have in the past.
When we pulled out our Halloween bucket, my boys had a blast putting up the vinyl decals, hanging my fall wreath and welcome mat, setting up Mr. Bones our skeleton, and all the other decor! This year, we were excited to add a fun rusty chain decoration we used to “lock up” our scarecrow and orange lights to line our pathway to our decorations!
Another favorite part of preparing for Halloween this year was picking out our Halloween costumes! My very imaginative 4 year old was beyond thrilled with the costume bucket had all sorts of fun costume hand-me-downs he could play with. He’s been dressing up as a fun character nearly daily, and sometimes several times a day, this whole month! We’ve seen him transform between a cowboy, lion, chicken, knight, pirate, and more! At one point, he even tried on some adult kung fu pants that went all the way up to his chin. He proudly exclaimed – “Look, I’m PANTS!!” What he was really looking forward to being, though, was Spider-Man!! With the help of the Kmart Kreator, we had fun browsing costumes and virtually dressing him up until he saw the Spider-Man costume and knew it was the one for him!
This past weekend, we were able to enjoy one of our favorite Halloween traditions! Our church group every year puts on a Pumpkin Party where we have fun family friendly activities like a cake walk and this year we did Pumpkin Bocce Ball! We also loved visiting our local pumpkin patch and farm which always brings in the fun of Halloween! My kids loved heading through a corn maze and petting the animals the best!
