Clara Lieu is a children’s book illustrator and dollmaker – the owner and maker of Claradolly. Her “Dollies” started when she was a freshman at the Rhode Island School of Design. She and her then-future husband would sit and draw silly characters of each other during an Art History class. ”Claradolly” and “Alexdolly” were born. Before she knew it, she had created an entire world of characters and stories. Each dolly has his or her very own story. For example: “Cyclops Baby is a really gigantic baby who is extra furry and soft. Cyclops Baby especially enjoys rolling around everywhere. He is always using his head to bonk people. He likes to bounce balls off of his head and stick his head into holes and containers. Cyclops Baby also likes to sing and hum to music, although unfortunately he’s not a very good singer and doesn’t carry a tune very well.” There are many cute dollies to choose from!
From the moment I pulled this Cyclops Baby by Claradolly out of the box, it was love at first sight for my son! He’s very into anything snuggly and lovey. Stuff animals, baby dolls, or blankies. But he locked onto this Cyclops Baby (his favorite color, too!). In fact, when I tried to take it from him for just a minute to get a picture by itself, my son came scrambling over and it was hard to get a shot without him in it. Since then, he has slept with his Cyclops Baby every night. And, as you can see, he kisses him, too. He calls him “Baby.” I love, love, love his “Baby,” too. It’s oh-so-cute, and oh-so-soft, and perfect for cuddling. It is so high quality, too. I had a really hard time picking which Claradolly to get because they’re all so cute, but once I saw this adorable yellow plush doll, I knew it was the one for my son.
