I had heard of the Boxcar Children books, but this is the first time I had ever read one.  I thought they would be perfect for my 8-year-old.  He despises reading of any kind, so I practically had to force him to sit down with me! He has to read 50 pages each week by Friday, and it was Thursday night so I told him I would read to him instead of making him read out loud.  He threw a fit, and was whining, but after three pages, he didn’t say a word or move a muscle!  When I got to page 50, I stopped mid-sentence to see if he would care and he said, “Why’d you stop!?”  I told him we had already finished the 50 pages and he actually admitted that he really like the story!  The next day at school for his writing assignment, he wrote a summary of the book.  He remembered every last detail about the bakery, the names of the children, and how excited they were when they found the boxcar!  I really enjoyed this book too and looked forward to reading it with him every night.  I have a feeling that this set of 4 books will be the first of a large collection of Boxcar Children books!  I would recommend these well written stories to anyone ages 7 and up!

The Boxcar Children Books 1-4 set can be purchased on Amazon for an ARP of $21.99.  They are perfect for ages 7 and up!
