Mega Bloks “First Builders” Review

We accept a variety of samples and/or compensation for links, posts, and other campaigns. Refer to the bottom of the post and our site-wide disclosure policy for full details.

Mega Bloks is excited to announce it’s latest product and accompanying app.  The brand new “First Builders” line is designed for little hands and features an exciting graphic look and many new characters.  The Mega Bloks First Builders bags will also be PVC free and eco-friendly.  Mega Bloks First Builders has also launched an app to enhance your child’s playing experience.  This new app features step-by-step instructions to create over 20 models including animals, vehicles, boats and more!  After you are finished building, you can use the photo-sharing feature to show off your creation to your friends and family via email, Facebook and Twitter.  The Mega Bloks First Builders Let’s Build app is FREE on the App Store and available in 5 languages.

Mega Bloks also launched The Amazing Spider-man line of products!  After building the Spider-man Jeep and the Lizard Attack Walker you can recreate the bridge scene from the hit movie!   Spider-Man and his Spider Jeep square off against Lizard and his tentacle-enhanced Attack Walker with launcher. As both vehicles collide, Spider-Man and Lizard suffer from battle damage, but you decide who claims the victory!

My 3-year-old was so excited to get his own bag of Mega Bloks!  After I downloaded the First Builders app on our iPad, my 5, 6, and 8-year-old were also excited!  They all worked together to build almost every single item on the entire app!  Their favorite was the “Big Dog” because it used almost every piece and was really tall!  This app is also one of the coolest ideas I have ever seen!  It is so easy to use that my 3-year-old was able to build every item with almost no help!  After finishing each creation, you can tap the iPad and the item you created exploded or blows away in the wind.  (my 3-year-old loved that part!)   I also liked how the app keeps showing you which piece you need to add until you press the arrow.  That way you never miss a step!  My 8-year-old had a blast building the Spider-man jeep and Lizard Attack Walker!  He was also able to complete them by himself with the easy-to-follow instructions.  The Attack Walker actually has a working launcher and the Spider-man jeep has a sticky web that covers the vehicle!  My kids absolutely loved both of these products and can’t wait to see what Mega Bloks is going to come with next!

Mega Bloks First Builders are geared for ages 1+ and retail for $19.99 for the Big Building Bag.  The Amazing Spider-man Mega Bloks are perfect for ages 6+ and retail for $19.99 for the Bridge Showdown.  They can both be purchased on Amazon or your other favorite retailer.

Disclosure: I received a selection of Mega Bloks in exchange for my honest review. I was not compensated in any other manner. The opinions expressed above are my own and any claims should be verified on the sponsor’s site.

My boys love their blocks.  They have the little table that they build “castles” on and they love it!  Thanks for the review and information on the app.

My and my daughter both loved playing with these, it seems no matter how high tech things get we all still love to play with building blocks as kids.
