We received a Ceramic Soup Pot from Xtrema to review. This pot is perfect for cooking soups, chili, and beans so we just had to try cooking Chili! Both my husband and I really love Chili, but neither of us had ever try to make our own chili. We sought out a recipe that looked delicious and made a few of our own adaptions based on what meat when had on hand and thought would be good in the mix. The Chili turned out AMAZING! It was really so delicious and it was simple and easy to cook in the Xtrema Soup Pot. The unique design of this pot kept the entire pot of chili hot, even long after it had been removed from the stove top. Plus, the unique design of the pot really adds so much fun and flair to cooking! We had family over to enjoy the Chili with us and they both commented on how neat the pot looked, reminding them of a witches brew! This pot will be awesome for this year’s annual Chili and Cornbread cookout we participate in with our ward each Halloween. Not only will the food stay hot it will give a really cool ambiance to the meal as well! We’ve since gone on to experiment and try out other recipes and things to try cooking in this Soup Pot. My husband made up a nice hearty meat sauce for our pasta in this Soup Pot and it worked great and cooked everything evenly even though the pot was nearly completely full.
Brown 1 pounds of lean ground beef and 1/2 pound hot Italian sausage with 2 medium chopped onions. When meat is no longer pink, drain fat.
Add in 2 stalks of Celery, chopped and 1 green pepper, chopped. Plus, all the following spices: 2 tbls chili powder, 1 tbls crushed red pepper, 1 tbls garlic powder, 1 tbls dried parsley, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1 1/2 tsp oregano, 1 1/2 tsp ground cumin, 1 tsp salt. Saute until vegetables are heated through.
Transfer all ingredients into a large crock or stock pot and add 1 28 oz can diced tomatoes, 1 cans of black beans, and 1 can of tomato sauce. Use the tomato sauce can to add one can’s worth of water to the pot. Simmer on low heat for 2.5 hours, stirring occasionally.Top with grated cheese and sour cream and serve with cornbread!
I was also able to review Xtrema’s 6-piece Nylon Tool Set. We are always looking for nice tools that won’t scratch up our cookware but are still sturdy and easy to handle. This set has been fabulous! They have quickly become our go-to tools to grab as they all are sized really well to hold or flip a lot of food in one motion but are still really easy to handle and grasp. The large ladle spoon works perfectly in the Soup Pot and makes dishing up your meal simple. Plus, these tools look really nice as well!
You can find Xtrema Cookware products through their website. The 4 Qt Soup Pot has a list price of $119.99 but it on sale for $69.99. You can find the 6-piece Nylon Tool Set on sale for just $19.99!
