The year is 1907 and ten years have passed since the Phantom’s disappearance from the Paris Opera House. He has escaped to a new life in New York where he lives amongst the screaming joy rides and freak-shows of Coney Island. In this new electrically-charged world, he has finally found a place for his music to soar. All that is missing is his love – Christine Daae. Now one of the world’s finest sopranos, Christine is struggling in an ailing marriage to Raoul. So, it is with excitement she accepts an invitation to travel to New York and perform at a renowned opera house. In a final bid to win back her love, the Phantom lures Christine, her husband, and their young son Gustave from Manhattan, to the glittering and glorious world of Coney Island, not knowing what is in store for them…
I am a huge Andrew Lloyd Webber fan and was thrilled to see Love Never Dies! I didn’t even know there was a sequel to Phantom of the Opera. I have seen Phantom of the Opera five times and every time, have wondered what happened after the curtain closed. As crazy and unpredictable as the Phantom is, I was always heartbroken when Christine leaves him. In Love Never Dies, you see a different side of everyone. I found the Phantom even more intriguing, Christine even more amazing and dislike Raul even more than before. The songs were phenomenal, especially “Til I Hear You Sing” and “Beneath A Moonless Sky”. Andrew Lloyd Webber is never fails to impress me and Love Never Dies is no exception. Besides the incredible voices and amazing talent I have always been impressed with the costumes and set of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s plays. Love Never Dies lets you feel like you are there in the early 1900s and captures every detail from Christine’s wardrobe to the recreation of Coney Island. I would recommend Love Never Dies to anyone who enjoys fabulous musicals and, of course, and Phantom of the Opera fan!
