On May 18, the epic action of the classic naval combat game will unfold in theatres nationwide with the release of Universal Pictures’ “Battleship,”starring Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard, Brooklyn Decker, Liam Neeson and recording superstar, Rihanna. Of course, the live action doesn’t end with the film. Young naval commanders can go head-to-head with the Alien fleet in Hasbro’s Classic Battleship Movie Edition game. Players choose to command either the Navy or Alien fleet and can unleash brand new super weapon cards to destroy their opponent with attacks like those from the big screen! The game comes in a convenient carrying case, making it easy to wage your own battles at home or on the go.
Commanding your own fleet in the Battleship game isn’t the only way to recreate your favorite action scenes from the big screen! With the KRE-O Battleship Combat Chopper set, kids can pretend to take their missions to the skies, complete with a KREON fighter pilot and KREON alien figure. Once the chopper has been constructed, kids can push the lever to spin the rotor and launch missiles at incoming alien attacks like their favorite action heroes from the movie!
I have always loved playing Battleship but this new version was so much more fun! Now you are wondering how classic Battleship could possibly be any more fun? With some new twists and alien ships! I played several times with my son and always picked the “alien ship set”. The ships are really cool and way different from regular Battleship (which is still fun!) The other thing that set this new version apart? The cards! Before each turn you get to draw a card and follow the instructions. It could be “fire 3″ (fire 3 shots) or “row Scan” (you can choose a row and call out all the coordinates). The cards made the game go a little faster and always kept me on my toes! After we played Battleship a few more times, we started building the KRE-O Battleship Combat Chopper. My boys loved it! It is dark green so it goes with all of their army stuff and the two characters included (an alien and a pilot) are really cool! The set had 176 pieces and it took my 13-year-old about 15 minutes to put together. The helicopter also shoots missiles with the push of a button! Now my 8-year-old runs around the house with the Chopper pretending to blow up all the “bad guys”! I would recommend both of these products to any Battleship fan out these!
Battleship Movie Edition can be purchased on the Hasbro Toy Shop and retails for about $20. The KRE-O Battleship Combat Chopper set can also be purchased on the Hasbro Toy Shop for around $20.
