DivaCup Menstrual Cup Review & Giveaway

The DivaCup is a great alternative to handling your menstrual flow that offers an eco-friendly reuseable option. Here is some great information about the DivaCup directly from their website:

The DivaCup is a non-absorbent menstrual cup that simply collects menstrual flow. It is inserted in the vagina and sits at the lower base of the vaginal canal. It is worn internally, yet because it is soft and smooth, it cannot be felt nor will it leak when inserted properly. The DivaCup is the most clean and convenient method of feminine hygiene protection. No need to touch the flow. It is worn low in the vagina, not near the cervix, so it is easy to remove. No mess! The DivaCup ends hassles with unreliable disposables in endless absorbencies, shapes and styles. It is perfect for all activities – giving women true freedom without the worry, guessing and unreliability that disposable feminine hygiene products pose. The DivaCup can be worn for up to 12 hours before emptying, washing and reinserting for use for another 12 hours. It can be used for light or moderate flows and is emptied more often to accommodate heavy flows.  Perfect for overnight use.

Features of the DivaCup:

  • Latex-free, BPA-free, plastic-free
  • No dyes, colors or additives
  • Comfortable, reliable
  • Clean, convenient, easy-to-use
  • Worn for up to 12 hours at a time

I received a DivaCup to review. Having been pregnant or nursing almost the entirety of my 6 years of marriage I was surprise, and very unhappy, with the disposable options available when I finally started back onto my cycle. I wasn’t really happy with tampons or disposable pads. When I first heard about The DivaCup, I’ll admit, I thought it was a bit weird and seemed extremely messy. That put me on a hunt, though, and after ready tons of reviews online and seeing how extremely highly rated menstrual cups are I was ready to try one for myself. Before my cycle started I checked out some YouTube “tutorials” that use a clean glass tube to demonstrate and discuss the use of a menstrual cup. This helped me tremendously as I leaned about folds and positioning. Then, I gave the cup a try a few times prior to my cycle to get a bit of an idea what I would be doing when the time came.

When my cycle arrived, I actually did pretty well using the cup. I did have a few times where I would think it was properly sealed in place only to stand up and start to walk and just feel and know it wasn’t and I would need to start over. There is definitely a learning curve to menstrual cups. By the end of my cycle, though, it was much easier to place. I got my period right during my 3 days of traveling which could have been the worst time ever, but actually ended up being just fine since I had The DivaCup. I didn’t have to pack loads of feminine care products along with me and I could travel all through the airport and flights without worrying about needing to worry about my protection. Emptying The DivaCup can be a bit messy, though, which is in my opinion its biggest “downside” that you have to be willing to deal with to be successful using the cup. When I was at the hotel it wasn’t a big deal at all as I could easily wash and clean the DivaCup before needing to reinsert it and had all the time I needed to freshen up. When I was out and about, though, I didn’t feel comfortable with the idea of adjusting or emptying out The DivaCup. Luckily, the cup can last for up to 12 hours, so you may not ever need to change out your cup away from home. I really liked using The DivaCup and despite the learning curve and more “hands on” approach to the mess, I will absolutely be using my cup again for all my future periods! I know it will only get easier with experience and I felt like it was a more efficient and actually cleaner (no underwear messes) way to handle my menstrual cycle.

You can find the DivaCup through a variety of retailers by using their Store Finder to find online or local stores. The DivaCup is also available through Amazon. The DivaCup has a suggested retail price of $39.99 but often is listed for around $25 on Amazon. Since the DivaCup comes in two sizes, be sure you check which size will be best for you.

I have tried soft cup before and while I loved it, it still had to be disposed of.  I love that diva cup is ‘green’.

  • Stacy T

I think it’s great that you can use it for up to 12 hours and that it would save all of those pads and tampons from going in the landfill.

  • Lolli S

I think it would be great to own the Diva Cup! It is healthier for the body as it would reduce the risk of TSS and is a green period option!! It would reduce the number of tampons and pads in the toilet/landfills!

  • CuteKaty

I don’t have money to buy pads and tampons (financial problem) so that’s why I would love to win a Diva Cup

  • Daiva

This is actually new to me! I’d love to try one! Sounds like it would be a great replacement for pads and tampons, good for environment and my wallet :)

  • K Olsen

I tried the keeper and it was too long.  I really would like to try the diva because it is latex free too.  And eco friendly :)

When I’m out and about (or when I was working in the office), I’d grab a few paper towels to take into the stall with me. 1 damp, another dry. That way I could easily wipe off the cup. I also find that on my heavier days, I still have to empty it several times. But despite this, I still prefer it to tampons.

  • Mandi

I’ve been wanting to try the DivaCup for a while. Pads and tampons cost a lot of money, and it can be difficult to afford the necessary supplies sometimes. The cup, though expensive at first, would save a lot of money in the long run.

  • Vicky Carlson

I tried the keeper and the stem uncomfortable stuck me. I think they should all have a ball end. But I really like the bpa free factor and this is a really brilliant product.

I already have used the Diva Cup and love it, but I am now pregnant and will need the #2 size!

  • Vanessa Coker

I think it’s a neat idea and it sounds very clean.

The Diva cup sounds great. I would love to try it.

I love this concept. You don’t have to use all of the chemicals that are used to make tampons and pads!!

Thanks for the great giveaway.  I like the green aspects of the Diva cup ~ not having as much waste and the fact that I’m not putting “bleached” paper inside my body.

  • Nina Janke

I love the idea of the cup.  Hoping that i win so that I can use it.

I have been wanting to try this brand of menstrual cup. I have a Moon cup and it took a couple of months getting used to it but I like it much more than the tampons I’ve always used. Only thing I don’t like about it is the tab at the bottom can be trimmed if too long and I trimmed mine and now the ends are a little rough so if I don’t get it in perfectly, I can feel the tab rubbing! Not painful but very irritating sometimes!  LOL Sorry if TMI!

  • Brittany Schurer

I like that you can use for longer periods of time.

  • Karen Fields

I’ve been curious to try this, since it’s economical and green, but it seems like it would be strange to get used to.

we became a cloth diapering family when we started paying attention to how much garbage disposable diapers create…now i’m looking to cut out other disposable products, and the Diva Cup will be perfect!  thanks for the giveaway!

  • Ashley Mason

After having a baby I’ve really been thinking about what I’m putting into the garbage and how much, and this would make a HUGE difference!

  • lace

I love that they are free of nasty chemicals.

  • Alexis Bertch

I would love to try this! So economical!

  • Natalie

I’ve heard so many positive reviews on this. I’d love to give it a go!

  • Ashhhh

I’ve been using the Diva Cup for the past year and LOVE it! I was also skeptical at first, and like Janel said, there was a bit of a learning curve, but once you get it, you’re set!  Honestly… it’s amazing.  I traveled around Australia, Thailand, Bali and New Zealand, never using tampons and I swear to you this thing is a Godsent.  Not only are you using a completely GREEN product, but you don’t have to worry if you’re in the Outback, for example, and forget to buy tampons!  As long as you have access to water and soap, you’re in the clear!  Plus it can stay in longer than a tampon, so you don’t have to worry about rushing to change it… It’s good for heavy days, light days… The whole way through! Can’t rave enough about the Divacup!

  • Milagretab

This would not only be good for the environment but also the wallet :)
I’ve read & heard great things about this product & can’t wait to try

  • Jessica Ace

I am alittle skeptical but I would be willing to try it.

  • latanya

I like the concept and it seems safer

  • Lilyprenmom

i really want to try this! i have been reading about them online so i would love to win

  • Sarah Hull

I already use mama cloth and would love to try a Diva Cup. I think it would be super beneficial for my heavier days! I really like that it such a “greener” option and that it comes in 2 sizes.

  • Sara Weekley

I am not sure what to think a little puzzled but I am very curious about this product plus, I could save a lot of money if I use this instead of tampons.  =)

  • Zeke Beke

I’m a sucker for reusable and green products. Go DivaCup!

  • Holly S.

I like that they have 2 sizes for before 30/vaginal birth or after 30/vaginal birth. I have seen these and have wanted to try it, but the price keeps me from experimenting here. I would love to reduce the waste that come with my period every month, but am nervous about using it and, like you said, having to change it out in a public toilet or not getting it in right and leaking gushes. Thanks!

  • ed shult

I have heard of the Diva cup prior to reading this review and would love to try it:)

  • Cynthia Keene

I have wanted to try this for a while now.  I hope I win!!

  • Szogediek

I have been thinking of trying this for so long…I don’t really know what is holding me back.  I love the fact that I’d never have to buy Tampons again.

    It looks great and comfortable!

  • Brittany Green

    Very interesting concept

  • Nikkiperry84

very interested to try this, love that there is no waste

  • Jolene

    They save money.

  • http://twitter.com/silanti1 Diane W

I like the fact that it doesn’t fill up a land fill

  • Allyson Bossie

I would love to try the Diva Cup!  I think it is awesome and have been studying it anyways because I already use Instead and this would be less to be thrown out!

  • http://healingspace88.blogspot.com/ Mrs. Smitty

I’ve been planning on getting a menstrual cup for almost 2 years, but before I could order one, we found out I was pregnant. Now I’m starting to get a more regular cycle after baby and I’m ready to try it! I love my mama cloth, but sometimes it would be nice not to have to deal with it while I’m out and about, and I use instead cups, but it would be terrific to have a non-disposable option!

  • Cynthia Deleon

Wow this is so strange but I cant say that im not curious!

I have heard about the Diva cup before, but didn’t look into it.  I love how their site lists the different benefits of using the cup.  Between being green, saving money, and not having to worry about carrying other products with you, makes the Diva cup a very interesting option.
