Wappy Dog DS Virtual Pet & Game Review

Wappy Dog is a virtual pet that takes pet gaming to a whole new level by combining a virtual world with a physical toy pet. Players name and learn to care for their pet both in the virtual enviornment as well as getting to see him come to life and actually respond through their toy pet. When you interact with Wappy Dog by playing games and giving him treats your friendship and relationship builds and you are able to unlock new interactions and games. Wappy Dog shows his emotions through his face which lights up and responds as well as barks and movements. You can interact with Wappy Dog through your DS in either home or travel mode. In travel mode, you can take Wappy Dog along with you while you’re away and continue to play with him even without the pet near by.

With Wappy Dog you get:

  • Interaction! Unlock songs that Wappy Dog can learn to sing with up to 16 total tunes as you continue to play. Converse with Wappy Dog with 18 conversational prompts that bring one from more than 350 evolving responses through a bark that is translated on screen.
  • Mini-Games! Learn to cooperate, compete, and be supportive through mini games that develop the relationship with your pet and continue to unlock new games. Wappy Dog responds with cheers or cries while playing games to express his or her mood.
  • Personalization! Each user’s experience with Wappy Dog will be totally personal and unique as the attention and interaction really grows a unique relationship. Players can choose a nickname for their pet and customize their Wappy Dog with the included sticker sheets.

Wappy Dog Review

All three of my boys have been really interested and intrigued with Wappy Dog. My 5 year old will play with him holding the DS and my 3 year old and 1 year old will laugh and play with the physical pet toy as he responds. They’ve have all had a lot of fun playing with him and love watching him move and light up. The game does have a lot of on screen text which means it’s best once a child can read. This game has been nice to have as my boys have all been asking for a pet and we just don’t have the space or time to accommodate a pet. This lets my son play with and enjoy the better aspects of owning a pet and learn important skills about caring for animals as well without having to actually have a pet. Wappy Dog is available for Nintendo DS and retails for $49.99. It comes with the Wappy Dog pet toy, DS game, and included stickers. It is rated E for Everyone. It is available in stores locally as well as through Amazon.

    This little guy can do so many things, I like how it can interact with the child, that you can personalize the dog.  It really has some great learning tools with it.  My grandson would love this.
