I had not been using any knives from our block set for quite a while now as they were so dull. With dull knives you start with the manual step first and run the blade through to repair the blade edge and then you turn on the knife sharpener and run the blade through the interlocking ceramic wheels to sharpen the blade. After the initial sharpening the knife sharpener can be used daily to keep your blade edge nice and sharp and only the electric ceramic wheels step is needed if you keep the blade edge sharp and maintained.
I was really surprised by how easy it was to sharpen my knives! Even the “manual” step was extremely simple. I was able to sharpen all of my knives by myself with the exception of our two ceramic knives which can’t be sharpened with this knife sharpener. I have been very happy with this knife sharpener and it’s worked great for us! It’s small enough that it stores easily and looks nice enough to stay out on the counters.
