American Girl McKenna Girl of the Year 2012 Review & Giveaway

Meet McKenna, American Girl’s 2012 Girl of the Year! Throughout 2012 you’ll have the opportunity to get to know McKenna and learn her story. She is a determined girl that uses all of her strengths that allows her to turn her challenges into triumphs. She struggles as she tries to balance school and sports as she is entering fourth grade. Plus, she is struggling with reading and must find a way to keep up. McKenna is an absolutely gorgeous doll with silky caramel-colored hair.

McKenna will only be available during 2012 and throughout the year American Girl will support several initiatives in support of the inspirational message throughout her story including McKenna related retail events, McKenna “Take the Challenge” online activity and a partnership with Save the Children in support of their U.S. Literacy Program. Plus, McKenna’s stories will even premiere on DVD in an all-new movie based approach to her stories in 2012!

Girls can participate in McKenna’s Take the Challenge Quiz that will help girls to discover their top three strenghts out of 8 total categories. Then, girls that complete ten offline challenges that correspond to a particular strengths category will earn a trophy. For each trophy earned, American girl will donate $.25 (up to $50,000) to Save the Children’s U.S. Literacy Program! To correlate with this online challenge is the Take the Challenge!: Crazy challenges and silly thrills to explore your talents and everyday skills book that features more than 100 different challenges to help girl shave fun and stretch their skills all while exploring their talents.

For more fun with McKenna, you can check out all of her cute clothes, accessories, and items available. With her busy schedule she keeps her gymnastics and school gear with her on the go! Her cute accessories set includes: a mini Fantastic Gymnastics book, 3 faux dollars, pretend water bottle and faux bag of trail mix, gym ID card, starry necklace, letter of congratulations from the Shooting Star Gymnastics team, poetry journal, book report, and printed gymnastic bag that is big enough to hold all the accessories!
