I loved the story behind Guylian Chocolates. It is so romantic and I think even makes the chocolate taste that much better…if that’s even possible! Here it is…
Guy Foubert – born in 1938 in Sint-Niklaas – was a passionate Belgian chocolatier making handmade chocolate truffles.
The story of Chocolaterie Guylian began in the late 1950’s with the marriage of Guy Foubert and Liliane. Guy and Liliane joined their names in our company name: Chocolaterie Guy-lian. Guy soon realised that the world was ready for something totally new. On which the young couple created for the first time chocolates in the shape of seashells. Guy developed the recipe of our signature hazelnut praliné filling; Lilliane added the artistic touch by designing the shining marbled look and the delicately sculptured shapes. A true love story of romance and chocolate.

I am SUPER picky when it comes to chocolate, but was excited to try some real Belgian chocolate. I normally just eat regular chocolate candy bars you get from the store and on occasion, some nice boxed chocolate but the Guylian Chocolates didn’t even compare! They were delicious! I LOVED the hazelnut taste in the center of each piece. It was unique, but made it so much more flavorful. The pieces themselves were the perfect size…not too big, not to small. I was a little over protective of MY chocolate after realizing how amazing it was and ended up hiding the boxes in my fridge. But I did share a couple of pieces to get these cute pictures! I would recommend Guylian Chocolates to ANY chocolate lover. You will not be disappointed!
