First Alert Smoke/CO Alarm Review & Giveaway

October is Fire Prevention Month! To help families prepare in case of a fire First Alert is here to share a great giveaway and information about fire safety! Recent scientific studies reveal that voice alarms are more effective than standard beeping alarms at waking children ages six to 10. The First Alert Voice Alarm combines a loud per-recorded voice and high-decibel beeps for a combination approach to better awake a child in an emergency!

We received two First Alert Voice Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms to review. I set one up in each of my older two boys bedrooms. These smoke and carbon monoxide testing alarms are really neat! I have never heard a talking alarm before so it was cool to be able to try it out! At the end of the message the alarm even prompted back to us the carbon monoxide levels. It is great that this unit is able to test and alert for both!

First Alert Smoke Alarm Review

After we had them both set up my boys were really curious about what they were and what the voice alarm message meant as they heard the test message. This prompted a “fire drill” and created a great learning opportunity where I taught my boys what to do in case there was a fire! We practice fire escape routes and had them go out the front door, back patio when the front was “blocked by fire” and then even sent them crawling out the bedroom window when their door was “hot to the touch”. It was really great to be able to teach my 5 year old what to do and where to meet if there was a problem and teach him that he wasn’t to go find his brothers or us but to just leave the home immediately.

First Alert has a range of Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms available. Be sure to visit First Alert on Facebook as well for sweepstakes and to stay up-to-date!
