Pirate Fluxx & Seven Dragons Review & Giveaway

Looney Labs is an awesome game company started by three “modern day hippies”.  It takes a team of employees, exponentially growing retailers, and fans to produce, sell and promote tons of award-winning games.  Some of those games include: Fluxx, Aquarius, Treehouse, Pyramid, and Seven Dragons.  Looney Labs continues to create amazing games that are portable, can be played by children and adults of all ages, don’t take long to play (5-45 mins), and are extremely unique!  My son is a huge Fluxx fan and was introduced to it by his gifted teacher so he was thrilled to get the new “Pirate Fluxx”.  We also were able to try out “Seven Dragons”.

Here are the basic Fluxx rules…

It all begins with one basic rule: Draw one card, Play one card. You start with a hand of three cards… add the card you drew to your hand, and then choose one card to play, following the directions written on your chosen card. As cards are drawn and played from the deck, the rules of the game change from how many cards are drawn, played or even how many cards you can hold at the end of your turn.

Here is what my 12-year-old son thought about the game…

ARRRGH! Pirate Fluxx is one of the best games I have ever played! I play this all the time with my friends at school and at home.  It is so addictive! This game contains a lot of the same features as seen in the original Fluxx, but it has two more exciting cards that can change the entire game! No two games are alike, and anyone can play! I love this game, and I can’t wait to see what kind of Fluxx they will have next!

We had SO much fun playing this game as a family!  Even my two-year-old was pitching in.  I also liked how it felt like we were working together to build a really cool design, even if we were playing against each other.  Great game!

Here are the basic Seven Dragons rules…

“Each player is given a secret goal card of one of the five colored dragons: RED, GOLD, GREEN, BLUE, and BLACK. The cards are played on the table connected like dominoes, with each player trying to win by connecting seven panels of their dragon. Action cards allow players to shake up the action in five different ways and the WILD and SILVER dragons bring strategy to the table. The game is fast, fun, colorful, and easy to learn – with enough bluffing and strategy to keep adults engaged.”

Here is what my 12-year-old son thought…

Seven Dragons is a fun, family-oriented game with lots of cool features! You can play with anyone, young or old, and still enjoy the game at it’s fullest! I love playing this game with my family and friends, and it never gets old! There are so many different ways to change up the game, and the instruction booklet even has some tips in the back of additional ways to play.  I can’t wait to see what Looney Labs comes out with next!

Seven Dragons can be found on the Looney Labs website or at specialty game stores and retails for $15.  Pirate Fluxx can be found on the Looney Labs website or at specialty game stores and retails for $16.
