KAM Snaps is a family run business that operates in the US. Getting started with these pliers was so easy as I first read through their Getting Started guide and then checked out their Tutorials as well. I loved that their tutorials section has templates and information for converting aplix cloth diapers into snaps! They also have tutorials to make nursing bras, pacifier holder clips, wallets and more! After watching the tutorials I jumped right in and tried it on my first project I had in mind which was a piddle pad I had made to keep my bed from needing sheet changes as often with a two year old that won’t keep a diaper on! I made a snap closure along the edge so I could adjust the “inserts” similar to a pocket diaper. As the area only had 2 layers of PUL it was pretty thin so the snaps gave me a little bit of trouble and I used the instructions I had learned to press the pliers without the soft rubber piece after pressing them into place to get them to lock firmly.
Next, I made a Bamboo One-Sized insert for my cloth diapers. It is 12″ x 15″ so I made it snap in two directions so it would stay in place when I went to stuff my inserts into my pocket diapers. I can snap it to be 15″ long or 12″ long depending on medium or large sized diapers. Having the snaps on this insert has been really nice as I leave it snapped most the time and it washes and dries just fine. Then, it’s already semi-folded so I just smooth it out and then insert it into one of my pocket diapers and I’m ready to go! With the snap it allows me to unsnap the insert when I need to to allow for the size change or to hang on a drying line. I had considered just sewing a 9 layer thick insert as I don’t love folding thing but this has worked so much better! I am awaiting fabric to make a bunch more Bamboo inserts they have worked so much better for me so I am thrilled to have these pliers as I will absolutely be attaching snaps to all the rest of my inserts!
