DS Lite and Mario Games a huge hit! Review

We accept a variety of samples and/or compensation for links, posts, and other campaigns. Refer to the bottom of the post and our site-wide disclosure policy for full details.

Nintendo recently dropped the price of their DS Lite down to just $99.99 (Down from $169.99) which makes it much more affordable as a gaming system for your children. Their well loved Mario series of games have out sold any other franchise with over 1 million games sold per title and over 262 million Mario games sold worldwide since 1995!  Even more recently, they also were able to lower the price of their 3DS model down to $169.99 down from the launch price of $249.99. The 3DS has a whole slew of great game titles coming this fall including Star Fox 64 3D, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, and Kid Icarus!

Nintendo DS Lite Review

We were able to review a Nintendo DS Lite along with all 6 Mario titles for the DS which are now featured in new red cases that make them easy to distinguish! My boys are HUGE fans of Mario and are even set as dressing up as Mario and Luigi for Halloween! They were so excited when the games arrived! They have each played all the titles and while my 2.5 year old doesn’t follow a lot of the games he still loves to watch the videos and play along where he can. My 4 year old though LOVES these titles but I think his favorite two have to be Mario Kart and Mario VS Donkey Kong which he is always asking to play! I love that the gaming system is portable so they can take it along with us on our summer trips as well as appointments and long car drives! It is also nice as a way to let them enjoy some entertainment without having to have the noise and space of other gaming systems that use the TV and take up the family room. We all love the DS Lite and the fabulous Mario titles and will be using these for years to come!

That is a good deal. My boys love Mario as well … maybe that would be a good Christmas gift. Thanks for your input.

I own a DS Lite myself. I enjoy it better then the 3DS. I found myself getting dizzy trying to play the 3DS in stores, true you have the option to switch it off if you choose to. But I personally would play it with it off all the time. I to enjoyed my Mario intake growing up and it is awesome to be able to play the some of the same things but with an even better picture.
