Guest Post: Four Tips for Mom and Baby-to-be

Being pregnant is an exciting time.  You and baby are getting to know one another.  When baby does arrive everything will change, so take this opportunity to take time for you.

Tip One – Get Away From the Everyday Grind
Find a place that brings you peace.  It can be a garden, book store, coffee chop or maybe your own bathtub.  Go to your peaceful place and rid your mind of all today’s problems.  Dump your to do list on to paper or someplace electronically. Now that you’ve done that, let them go.  Now enjoy your moments of peace and concentrate on how much you already love the baby growing inside of you.
Tip Two – Saying No is always an Option
As women we sometime have a hard time saying no, but especially during this time your energy is a precious commodity so treat it as such.  So if you don’t have the time to do something, then be honest to the person asking and tell them no.  There is no need to make excuses, simply than them for considering you for their plans, but you just can’t.  Again keep in mind this is about you, your time and energy.
Tip Three – You Don’t Have To Do Everything Yourself
Okay this one is going to be hard for most of you, but here it goes, you don’t have to do everything yourself.  Now is a great time for you to start delegating.  Start with family, your husband can help with the shopping and running errands.  How many times have friends said if there is anything I can do let me know, well let them know.   People want to help, so when they offer, take them up on the offer.  They will feel good about helping and you to take care of you and the baby.  One thing to keep in mind is that the people helping you might not do things the way you would, but it doesn’t matter, at least things are getting done, and you are not having to them all.
Tip Four – Record Your Thoughts
You are thinking and feeling so much, record your thoughts.  You can do this through a traditional journal.  Or you can use a blog. Although be aware that this is a public forum, so any one can read this, and it can exist on the net for a long time.  You could also record your thoughts on video.  A simple web cam and video will allow you to create a video journal that you can share with baby in the years to come.
Bottom line is that this a very special time and you need to take care of yourself.  It is important that you keep yourself healthy and rested.  Because you will need all the energy you can get when the wee one finally arrives.
